The Court of Appeal for Lower Norrland is looking for a legal advisor

The Court of Appeal for Lower Norrland is one of the six courts of appeal in the country. The court's main task is to review cases and matters that are appealed from the five district courts in Västernorrland, Gävleborg, and Jämtland counties.

The court is located in a beautiful and creative environment in central Sundsvall and has approximately 55 employees, half of whom are lawyers. The court is divided into a judicial department and an administrative unit that is shared with the Administrative Court in Sundsvall. The judicial department is led by a chief judge. The department also includes three vice-presidents, ten court of appeal judges, about six acting assessors, eight prosecutors, nine court clerks, and two registrars.

In Sundsvall and nearby towns, about 110,000 people live. In addition to the court, Sundsvall has a university and several government agencies that collaborate within the framework of the Government Agency Network. There are good public transport connections to and from Sundsvall.

We are looking for someone who wants to work with qualified law at the appellate level.

The position involves varied and qualified legal tasks where you work closely with the court's judges, prosecutors, and court clerks. The court employs lawyers with broad expertise, making it a very stimulating environment to work and develop in.

Responsibilities

As the court's legal advisor, you have a primary responsibility. This is to have overall responsibility for preparing and presenting cases in the Legal Aid Committee. This mainly involves reviewing all cases and, if necessary, requesting opinions from the Chancellor of Justice and answering questions from parties, representatives, and the public. The work of writing decision proposals and presenting the Legal Aid Committee's cases is shared to some extent with the court's prosecutors.

As time permits, you will also prepare and present cases and matters, conduct legal investigations, and write proposals for judgments and decisions in all types of cases that occur in the court of appeal. To some extent, it may also be relevant to serve as a protocol officer at oral hearings.

Qualifications

You have a law degree or equivalent qualification and several years of experience in legal work. You should be a court clerk from a district court. Experience of legal work at another authority or in the private sector is an advantage.

You have good legal knowledge, strong analytical skills, and can express yourself well both in writing and verbally.

You have a high sense of responsibility, good judgment, are meticulous, proactive, and engaged in your work. The position also requires good collaboration skills and the ability to meet the public in a correct and pleasant manner. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

Employment conditions

Employment type: Permanent employment with a six-month probationary period

Scope: Full-time

Salary form: The Swedish Courts apply individual salary setting.
